Optical nail whiteners are category of products that sound great in theory, but I am more for real whiteners, not just optical illusions. But since these products have their place in manicure world, I believe it is time to show you one of only few such polishes available in Serbia - Trind Nail Brightener

Trind Nail Brightener je proziran ljubičasti lak koji bi trebalo da vizuelno ubije žutilo noktiju i da učini da nokti deluju zdravije. Meni su nokti i prirodno žućkasti, a od silnog lakiranja su još i isflekani pa sam prava osoba za testiranje ovog sredstva. Kao što vidite, meni ovaj lak daje krajnje neprirodan, skoro smrznut izgled. Vrhovi noktiju uistinu deluju belje, ali meni to ništa ne znači kada mi prsti deluju promrzlo. Na nekome ko je hladnog podtona (npr. Jelena) ipak deluje bolje.

Trind Nail Brightener is a transparent purple-tinted polish that is meant to camouflage yellow colour of nails and make nails look healthier. My nails are naturally yellowish and they are also stained due to the amount of polish I use, so I was the right person to use this product. As you can see, this polish gives me rather unnatural, nearly frozen look. My nail tips do look whiter and brighter, but to me that is of little importance if the rest looks like I have frostbite. It does look better on people with cooler skin tone (Jelena for instance).

Sam lak je prilično gust i visokog sjaja. Nije predviđen da se nosi kao baza, tj. ispod laka, što ima smisla jer vizuelno izbeljivanje noktiju ničemu ne služi ako se efeket neće videti. Može se nositi sam, što ne preporučujem ako ste toplog podtona, ali se može nositi i kao nadlak preko Trind Nail Repair ili nekog drugog laka u boji. Proizvođač takođe predlaže kombinovanje Nail Brightener-a sa belom olovkom na vrhovima prstiju za jednostavan francuski manikir. Ovo nije tretmanski proizvod i možete ga koristiti koliko god često to želite.

The polish itself is quite thick and glossy. It isn't meant to be worn as a base, i.e. below polish, which makes sense because optical whitening means nothing if the effect won't be seen. It can be worn on its own, which I don't recommend if you have warm skin tone, but it can also be worn as top coat over Trind Nail Repair or some other coloured polish. Manufacturer also suggests combining Nail Brightener with white pen on tips for an easy French manicure. This isn't a treatmens and you can use it as often as you like.
